NWOBHM up your ass...

Completely overlooked, underrated band right here. Play this one loud.

"Boo hoo, my band sucks..."

So I caught some of that Anvil documentary that has been hyped up all to hell on VH1 Classic. I probably watched about 20 minutes of it and the whole time that Lips clown and the halariously named Robb Reiner cried, bitched, and cried some more about how thier mediocre band never made it. Have you actually listened to the album Metal On Metal? The vocals suck...horribly. Sub par, mediocre, garbage. The end. You clowns suck. Stop crying, I hope you're happy, VH1 Classic hyped the fucking shit out of you hacks, so people will buy your shit now.

Why couldn't they do that for a band that deserves it like Bobby Liebling's Pentagram? Which has been alive in one form or another for nearly FORTY years. If you listen to the First Daze Here compilation made up of early 1970s Pentagram material you will hear songs that are just as good as any Blue Oyster Cult or Kiss song that was on the radio around the same time. Oh well, rant over.

Life's for my own to live my own way...

There's no denying that they picked some really good songs to cover for this, and did it well. Lots of old hardcore gets the new school Hatebreed treatment, as well as some cool old thrash. They even cover Crowbar and Obituary.

I don't take this shit that serious but, damnit, it's a good cause and a cool website put together by none other than Dee Snider.

Pickled herring sandwitch!

Stay away from Captain Howdy...

Why the hell not? I used to listen to this constantly when I was a little whippersnapper.

Running free...

I like all of Iron Maiden's singers. There, I said it.

Generals gathered in thier masses...

I think this is the only classic era Black Sabbath record I haven't posted yet, ironically it's my least favorite, yet still an essential awesome classic and EVERY self respecting metalhead should have it.

Coffin cheater...

Yall know what blog I got this from. Oh well, as always It's my own upload. I could not resist posying this missing link in the Scott Weinrich puzzle. I've never heard a band with that guy in it that I didn't like. The first five tracks are from a demo, and pretty good quality condicering, and have none other than Scott Wino Weinrich on vocals. The rest of the songs don't but some of them rock pretty hard too. The Wino songs are nice and Sabbathy and well, plain ol' evil and rockin'

Great song, borring video...

I felt like I should post something a little more...serious after that last video.

Speaks for itself...

Oh, those silly Norsemen. I actually kind of like black metal, but this made me laugh out loud.

And my lighter is held down by my thumb...

This is what stoner rock is all about. Totally classic, and not too far removed from what was going on in Seatle at the time but you could tell they were in the middle of the dessert just by listening to it. All the elements of a kick ass hard rock record are there, the blatant Black Sabbath influence, the gloriously distorted guitars, everything about it just lines up perfectly. I'd take this over Them Crooked Vultures any day, just sayin'...

Big gun...

AC/DC - Backtracks (2009)

Backtracks is a collection of rarities. Disc one is studio recordings, I think none of them have been released before exept for Big Gun, and disc 2 is random live recordings. Seeing as AC/DC is one of my favorite rock bands ever I couldn't resist.

See you in hell my friend...

I don't know much about this band other than it's the guy from Grim Reaper and it sounds like Whitesnake in parts. There's lots of old school metal and hard rock influence, it's nice and heavy one minute and then slow and the next, all in all a pretty cool hard rock record. Interesting fun fact, I found out about this band on Pandora Rado looking for bands similar to Beitthemeans, not that they sound anything alike, but I liked what I heard here.

On the wings of life...

You would hardly be able to tell this was the band who put out albums like Thundersteel but It's great, I like the singer they found around this time. Sounds to me alot more like Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, some really cool stuff going on here, kinda progressive, tons of cool guitar solos, old school style singer, it's got something for everyone. If you like classic sounding metal that is.

Sex drugs and rock and roll...

And why the hell not? Whitesnake legitamately rocks. There's no way around it, for over 30 years now, David Coverdale and co. have laid down the cock rock jams. Sometimes convincingly, sometimes cheesily, but always with hot chicks in thier videos and they have always stuck to thier guns. Even if that meant writing some cheesy and/or memorable pop/rock songs, but when they werent churning out rediculous power ballads like Here I Go Again they were rockin' the fuckin' place with songs like Still Of The Night and Crying In The Rain. Cheesiest thing I ever posted? Maybe. Am I ashamed? No way.

We who are not as others...

Chaos A.D. was a turning point for Sepultura, still heavy as balls, but with conciderably more groove metal influence as well as emphasis on Brazilian tribal rythyms, a mix that worked surprisingly well. This might be my favorite Sepultura release, maybe tied with Arise.

The mob goes wild...

Clutch actually has several live albums under thier belt, this is thier most recent live album and the most accessable, plus I was in the crowd for the portion of this recorded in New Jersey. I feel special, but seriously I remember thinking Clutch is playing great tonight I wish they were recording this. Haha.

haarp - E.P. 1 (2007)

Sludge-o-rama, ladies and gentlemen. And top notch sludge at that, you should expect nothing less from the crescent city though. These fellas are now signed to Philip H. Anselmo's Housecore records and I can't wait to hear even more from them in the future.

Make a killer wager...

What happens when you put Neil Fallon from Clutch, James A. Rota from Fireball Ministry, Brad Davis from Fu Manchu and that asshole from CKY together in a room? The Company Band happens, and with one E.P. already under thier belt this full length of all new rockin' ass songs just dropped and it is amazing.

It's 100% free! I would have paid for this, these guys kick serious ass. Thrash metal satisfaction guaranteed, these dudes are fucking cool for doing this. Throw some horns up in the air and get your thrash on.

Rock over London, rock on Chicago...

Wesley Willis was a schizophrenic street singer who built up a small cult following with his bizarre, three-chord rants about trivial everyday items, music, and people he knew. Willis was discovered singing on the streets of Chicago in the early '90s. For the first part of the decade, several independently released tapes of his songs appeared, eventually followed by indie recordings of his albums. Shortly before signing a major label contract with American Records in 1996, Willis was profiled on MTV, which resulted in increased recognition in certain alternative rock circles.Willis was diagnosed with leukemia in 2002 and was recovering from surgery when he died at the age of 40 on August 21, 2003.

Flatline...

Fireball Ministry has been cranking out kick ass stoner hard rock and roll for over ten years now. Lots of classic rock influence here, I hear traces of Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult and some southern rock influence as well.

They just don't make commercial rock records like this anymore...

Total classic from the grunge days.

Some say I'm an advocate of Lucifer, others say I'm a child of God, yes they do...

Another piece in the puzzle that is Pentagram and related projects. I don't know much about this particular project other than it is Bobby Liebling and a couple other fellas from Pentagram and it's basically the same kind of proto doom you would expect but Bedemon takes it in a slightly different evil kinda direction. What you get here isn't nececarily the best quality but if you like Pentagram or old school doom metal then it's more than worth it to give this a listen.

A preacher, a trucker, a highroller...

Holy shit has Clutch progressed since thier 1995 self titled third album. That's not to say it isn't awesome because it is. They were slowly starting to morph into the Clutch we know and love today but just weren't that band yet. This rekkid is seriously fuzzed out in parts, heavy and influenced by hardcore one minute and total stoner rock the next, Neil Fallon's lyrics are halarious and thought provoking, his actual singing voice more of a gruff shout than it is today, and all kinds of strange shit going on in the guitars department courtecy of Tim Sult.

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?modkligjx1m

Shake your blood...

I'm not a big fan of Dave Grohl by any strectch but the man knows his shit. This is his metal "side project", different singers on every song and he actually didn't fuck it up. You get Lemmy, Cronos, Max Cavalera, King Diamond, Wino, Mike Dean from COC, Kurt Brecht of DRI, Eric Wagner of Trouble, Tom Warrior, Snake from Voivod, and Lee Dorrian of Cathedral/Napalm Death. Yeah, tons of doom, thrash, hardcore and just plain old school heavy metal guys. The Lemmy track really does stand out as it sounds just like Motorhead, (not only do you get Lemmy's unmistakable vocals but his signature bass sound too), and go figure the best Sepultura song written in years, Red War with Max Cavalera, was written by fucking Dave Grohl. Also, guess who that is singing the "secret" track. Haha.

You are bewitched...

The first thing I ever posted here was a music video for the song Bewitched from this album for its rediculous/awesomeness. I've heard this album described as "meloncholy", interesting for an album thats so thorughly metal. This is doom metal but I guess on the more operatic, drama queen end of the spectrum thanks to the fucking maniac who sang on this, a big Nordic guy with a huge 'fro who calls himself Messiah Marcolin. His vocals kind of remind me of Dio gone wrong, in a good sorta way though. And again there's enough awesome metal stuff going on to redeem it.

Annihilate...

Not quite heavy metal riffs, not quite old school hard rock garage and not quite straight up punk, but a sick, twisted, vengeful, ugly, wonderful bastard child of all of them straight down to the perfectly fucked up production and constant use of the word annihilate. I love it.

Time to drink from the drinking horn...

It's hard to take this shit seriously all the time but what the hell I'm posting it anyway. I like the parts when the songs kick up and get nice and metallic. Different kind of vibe going on here, you can't really pigeonhole it as death metal because it doesn't sound like any death metal I've ever heard. But hey, Skeletonwitch likes these guys, that's good enough for me.

The Wesley Willis Fiasco - Spookydisharminousconflicthellride

If you don't know who Wesley Willis is, well then there is no hope for you. This time he had a kick ass backing band and released this awesome, heavy at times kick ass rock record. Rock over London, Rock On Chicago, Geico: fifteen minutes could save you alot on car insurance.

Crash course in brain surgery...

Came out sometime in the 1970s. Nice and heavy in parts, definately rockin', heavy Led Zeppelin influence in parts. These fellas later would be a big influence on bands like Metallica.

It's doom metal o clock...

Top notch doom metal. The singer guy is crazy, the band is tight, the guitars are way heavy and doomy, I haven't really listened to the whole thing yet but it sounds really fuckin' cool.
