Mercyful Fate were definately ahead of thier time. Like Venom, when this band came out they were thought to be down right demonic. The song structures here although influenced by bands like Judas Priest and Deep Purple, were a big influence on the thrash metal bands that would come out soon after. Almost every song is about satan, and you also got King Diamond's manic vocals that ran the gambit from demonic growls to full on opera high notes. There are guitar solos left and right, and galoping riff after galoping riff, King Diamond eventually went on to have a somewhat succesful solo career but was never quite was able to match the fury of the songs he did here.http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SV6MGRF2
